Lead-free glass tubes are designed to replicate the working properties of traditional lead glass. Unlike leaded glass, lead-free glass does not blacken, allowing fabricators to utilize "bushier" flames when heating and shaping the tubing. Additionally, it offers increased strength and lighter weight. Importantly, lead-free glass enhances safety by eliminating the risk of lead fumes during fabrication and enabling disposal without concerns about lead waste.
Lead-free glass tubes are applied for flare and exhaust tubing in incandescent and fluorescent lighting products. It is also used extensively for neon signs.
